Theodore A. Verlander, III, age 75, recently of Middletown, DE, passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2015, with his family at his side.

He was born in Gloucester, NJ, the son of the late Theodore and Margaret (Seery) Verlander. Ted worked for the Conrail Railroad Company in a variety of roles, mostly involved with drafting topographical data into maps.

Ted was an accomplished musician who played piano, trombone, and bass. He traveled throughout the country from New York to Las Vegas and even to Europe playing in jazz, classical and big band shows and events. He volunteered with and was Captain of the Auxiliary Police Force in Haddonfield, NJ, and always enjoyed a good cigar. Affectionately known as “Pop”, he was a loving and dedicated father and grandfather; he will be dearly missed.

Ted is survived by his sons, Theodore A. Verlander IV, and his wife, Kristin, William T. Verlander and his wife, Melissa, and Andrew M. Verlander; and his beloved granddaughter, Faith.

Family and friends are invited to visit from 5:00 – 7:00pm at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808 on Monday, June 22, 2015. An additional viewing will be held at the funeral home from 9:45 – 10:45am on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 with a funeral service starting at 11:00am. Burial will follow in Locustwood Cemetery in Cherry Hill, NJ.
