WWI Mural Unveiling at the American Legion
On Wednesday, July 26th the American Legion Post 372 will unveil the WWI mural that won the hearts of the judges of their first annual art mural contest earlier this year.
The Mural was painted by the winner of the contest, Cherry Hill West junior Emily Davidson. Submissions were accepted from all the Cherry Hill High Schools.
The mural representing World War I, depicts soldiers, white memorial crosses and scenes from the victory parade in New York overlaying a bright red poppy.
With 6 Mural “Walls” embedded in the American Legion Post 372 façade, the 1st mural wall now depicts the War of the founding veterans of the organization – World War I.
Next year’s art contest will be for World War II and subsequent wars will follow until all the mural walls are completed.
All are welcome to gather at the American Legion Post 372, 1532 Martin Ave, Cherry Hill, NJ on Wednesday, July 26th at 1pm to view Davidson’s depiction of our veterans from WWI and learn about her inspiration for the mural.
