On June 26, 2015, after a brief illness, at Cooper Hospital. Beloved father of Cynthia A. Brown and Stephanie C. (William) Schultz, special pop-pop to Allison and Riley. He is the brother of Joseph Edward (Annie) Brown and the late Dennis Brown, and brother-in-law of Toni Brown. Jeff is also survived by his former wife Barbara A. Brown, nieces and nephews and Lydia H. Brown. He was born in Fountain Hill, PA and grew up in Pennsauken. A graduate of Merchantville High School, he was President of the Class of 1960. Jeff was a Graduate of Eckels College of Mortuary Science in Philadelphia. He started at the Stephenson Funeral Home in 1959 and eventually purchased the business in 1972. Eventually the name was changed to the Stephenson-Brown Funeral Home, which he ran up until the time of his death. Jeff was civic minded and belonged to and was active in many area organizations, both politically and fraternally. He was a Member and President of the Merchantville Lions Club, Member and President of the Camden County Shrine Club, Member of Merchantville Lodge 119 F&AM, Member of the Excelsior Consistory of Collingswood, NJ, Member of the Crescent Temple Shrine, Member and Past Commodore of the Crescent Temple Yacht Club, served as Captain of the Guard of the Crescent Temple Divan. He was a Member of the Pennsauken Township Committee and served as Mayor of the Township in 1976. He ws the only person to serve on the Pennsauken Township Committee and then get elected to the Boro Council of Merchantville. As a car enthusiast, he was a Member and on the Board of the Ankokas Car Club, Long time Member of and participant in Vintage Sports Car Racing, and Member of and on the Board of the Vintage Sports Car Club of America, and enjoyed racing the vintage cars over the years. Jeff served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was discharged with the Rank of Sgt E5, and was a Infantry Platoon Sgt. He was a retired Investigator for the Camden County Medical Examiners Office, a position he held for 25 years. A Viewing will be held Tuesday, June 30, 2015 from 4:00-9:00 PM, at the Stephenson-Brown Funeral Home, 33 W. Maple Ave., Merchantville, NJ. where a Masonic Service will be held at 8:00 PM. A second Viewing will be held Wednesday from 9:30-10:45 AM at Grace Episcopal Church, 7 E. Maple Ave., Merchantville, followed by a Requiem Eucharist beginning at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Colestown Cemetery.
