Legacy
Tony, was a very generous and kind man who would always do for others and offered his time and support in anything someone needed. He proudly served the US Air Force during the Vietnam War, dedicated many years as a dispatcher for EP Henry of Turnersville.

It’s hard to place just one title on Tony Halas –  he threw himself into many veterans organizations he believed in. His work helping other veterans find assistance for utility bills, furniture and everything in between turned into the Vets Helping Vets organization, now seven years strong.

He has served as president of the South Jersey Vietnam Veterans Association, Vice President of the POW/MIA Awareness Organization of New Jersey and as a veterans service officer for the county’s veterans affairs office.

He was former commander of the Gloucester County Veterans Advisory Council and former Commander of VFW District 13. He was also on the original committee that established the Gloucester County Veterans Cemetery, which is where he will be laid to rest this Friday.

“He was a great family man,” said his wife of 35 years, Kathy Halas. In addition to Kathy, he leaves behind three children, two grandchildren and one brother. ”He shouldered a lot of weight for everybody. His love and kindness went everywhere.”

Family
Beloved husband to Kathleen (née Beck); Devoted father of Daniel, Richard, and Kathleen Kopec (Edward); Loving grandfather of Genevieve and Sabrina.
