Ronald J. Bates was born on November 4, 1949. His home of record is Gloucester City, NJ.

He entered the US Marine Corps and attained the rank of Corporal (CPL).

Bates was killed in action on July 31, 1969.

from dvrbs.com - CORPORAL RONALD JOSEPH BATES was born on November 4th, 1949. He made his home in Gloucester City NJ, and attended Gloucester High School. As a member of the Unites States Marine Corps, Corporal Bates' MOS was 2531, he served as a field radio operator.
Corporal Bates served our country for one year, arriving in Vietnam on September 19, 1968. On July 31st, 1969 he was killed in an accident in Quang Tri province, South Vietnam. He was 19 years old and was single.
Corporal Bates was brought home to the Untied States for burial.

Today was my first day to find this website and when I scanned through the people that died today, your name stood out. My brother was also in Vietnam, however, he was a Bates that came home. I am sorry for your family that you were not able to do the same. Thank you for your sacrifice to keep our country free. You will not be forgotton.
