my brother phillip forever
I was the one who tried to save you that day as you gave your life trying to
save your best friend in our
unit. All of these years went by and I still see you that day and I still try
to save you.I sang at your memorial we held for you. We fought for you to be
awarded the soldiers cross and I dont know how that turned out. I cannot
understand what else you could have done to deserve the highest award and
why we had to beg them to consider. Its ok though God saw everything and I
know he has watched over you and your family. see you later my friend and
brother

Admirer & Neighbor
Haddon Township, NJ
You were my Camden County, NJ neighbor, but we never met. You died on my
17th birthday. I was applying for my driver's permit in Berlin, NJ that day.
You were in South Vietnam giving your life in the service your country. You
weren't much older than I and lived only a few miles down the road. Yet our
lives were worlds apart. It's possible that you had no choice but to enlist,
or maybe you were drafted. I was able to go on to college. Although
deferrments were eliminated a year before, my lottery number was very high
at 292. Two of my good friends had #7. However, they and, as I recall, no
one born in 1953 was drafted. Perhaps your sacrifice in 1970 is the reason
we now are enjoying life, family & friends in 2003. THANK YOU!
